Public Transportation
This is the main issue that forced this recall election. We need the light rail to cover the entire metro valley area. We need 2 lanes on each side of the rail line and the rail line needs 2 lains. This does require massive construction but when the city has an effective light rail it will reduce traffic on the roads. In addition it will take some of the load off the bus system allowing for better service and smaller wait times for the public.
Safety / Preventing Crime
Because government and local law enforcement are responsible for addressing issues of crime in a community, it is easy for citizens to not be involved in crime prevention efforts, However, there are many ways citizens can help
Healthcare
I support social services, such as Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid and various other welfare programs, believing cutting these social services will be harmful to efficiency and social justice.
Equality & Diversity
I believe that of there should be equality on all fronts. Equality will ensure individuals or groups of individuals are not treated differently or less favorably, on the basis of their specific protected characteristic, including areas of race, gender, disability, religion or belief, sexual orientation and age. Promoting equality should remove discrimination in all of the aforementioned areas. Bullying, harassment or victimization are also considered as equality and diversity issues.
Vibrant Economy
I believe a vibrant economy is one which realizes the shared potential of businesses, people and communities across the city. It is an economy founded on trust and integrity in markets, one which unlocks sustainable growth in dynamic organizations and creates environments in which people, communities and business can thrive. How can we achieve it? We began our work on this by exploring the health, happiness and prosperity of people in districts and cities across Phoenix.
Preventing Poverty
With flat incomes and inequality stuck at historically high levels, one might assume that chronic economic insecurity and an off-kilter economy are the new normal and that nothing can be done to fix it. But there is nothing normal or inevitable about elevated poverty levels and stagnant incomes.
Preventing Homelessness
The top five causes of homelessness were (1) lack of affordable housing, (2) unemployment, (3) poverty, (4) mental illness and the lack of needed services, and (5) substance abuse and the lack of needed services. To end homelessness in America, we must strengthen our ability to prevent it in the first place. To do that, we must take a multi-sector approach that focuses on housing needs, housing stability, and risks of homelessness across many different public systems.
